PROFILE
David’s teaching and research interests concern the potential of physical activity for reducing the risks of chronic disease and optimising health. He is co-author (first and second editions) and co-editor (third edition) of the textbook Physical Activity and Health: The Evidence Explained (published by Routledge). Much of David’s research has addressed the interaction between exercise and appetite regulation where his focus has been on establishing the effects of exercise on key gut hormones proposed to play a role in regulating appetite. David is co-Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Obesity having been an Associate Editor for the Journal from 2013 to 2021. David also leads the Lifestyle Theme for the Leicester Biomedical Research Centre which is funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) in the UK.
