PROFILE
Motohiko Miyachi is conducting research to clarify the effects of sports on health promotion and its mechanism. He gives lectures on Exercise Physiology and Science for Exercise Adaptation for undergraduate and preside over the Applied Physiology Laboratory for graduate students. His previous research findings have contributed to social implementation such as the establishing of Physical Activity Guidelines for Health Promotion (Aactiveguide) of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan, and the development of active video games. He would like to continue to contribute health promotion through sport science.

Research Topics

The main research topics of the Applied Physiology Laboratory are as follows:
1) Elucidation of the adaptive mechanism of cardiovascular functions by physical activity,
2) Development of new evaluation methods for physical fitness an activity,
3) Application of microbiota research to sports and health,
4) Revision of physical activity guidelines for health promotion.
To achieve them, we use technologies from a wide range of disciplines such as epidemiology, physiology, and genetics.
