Hosting sport events boosts happiness among Japanese people in the host communities.

Sport events bring various positive impacts (economic, cultural, and environmental) on the host community. We investigated such event impacts by focusing on the Rugby World Cup 2019 (RWC 2019) in Japan. Our study revealed that all event impacts generated by RWC 2019 encouraged residents to have “hope for the future.” Such a positive feeling can enhance happiness among the residents in the host communities of RWC 2019.
