- PROFILE
- Dr. Masaki is a sport psychologist who uses various psychophysiological and cognitive neuroscience methodologies (e.g., EEG, fMRI, and tDCS) to conduct research examining the neural basis of motor control and learning, error processing, and choking under pressure. He earned his Ph.D. at Waseda University (1997) and has done extensive postdoctoral work at Humboldt University in Berlin. Currently Dr. Masaki’s research is focused on three major topics: (1) efficient and effective techniques for prevention of choking under pressure during competitive games, (2) underlying neuronal mechanisms of motor learning from the perspective of performance monitoring, and (3) beneficial effects of exercise on cognitive and affective functions. He also teaches multiple courses focusing on, or related to, sport psychology at the School of Sport Sciences, Waseda University.
